The Dane County Historical Society was incorporated as an affiliate of the State Historical Society on January 16, 1961. We're a private, non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) organization. Our primary mission is education: promoting an awareness of Dane County's rich heritage, thus aiding in its preservation. One hundred percent of our budget goes toward carrying out our mission. We carry out this mission through our programs and publications.

Historical Exhibit at Dane Co. Regional Airport!

Exhibit

Dane County turns 175 years old in 2011! County Executive Kathleen Falk and County Board Chair Scott McDonnell invited a committee of citizens to join together and help create a plan to mark this year a significant milestone. Visit the Celebrate Dane County website at to learn more about upcoming events celebrating Dane County’s 175th Anniversary.

As part of the celebration, Dane County Historical Society collaborated with the County’s 175th Anniversary Committee to create an exciting historical exhibit which opened at the Dane County Regional Airport on February 11, 2011. The kiosk exhibit is located in the public airline check-in area; the exhibit will remain up throughout this anniversary year.

Special thanks to Signs by Tomorrow and to Tandem Press for their generous contributions to
this 175th Anniversary airport display.

See the full-text of each of the panels (except the Dane Co. Regional Airport panel) on this website.
