The Dane County Historical Society was incorporated as an affiliate of the State Historical Society on January 16, 1961. We're a private, non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) organization. Our primary mission is education: promoting an awareness of Dane County's rich heritage, thus aiding in its preservation. One hundred percent of our budget goes toward carrying out our mission. We carry out this mission through our programs and publications.

Remembering in Dane County recordings available online

In 2008, the Dane County Historical Society received a grant from the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission to do a series of reminiscence reading programs. Two of the programs were recorded, and some other stories were recorded in a studio. All of the recordings are now available from the Remembering in Dane County blog.

"I Remember Madison Central High" website now available

Visit Dane County Historical Society's "I Remember Madison Central High" website. From there, you can view the complete run of The Madison Mirror and also share and read memories of Central High.
